The Armed Forces of the Philippines Educational Benefit System through the AFP Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) conducted a Stakeholders’ Forum at Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City last 23 May 2013, in recognition of the benevolence of its partners in the area.

The forum  was attended by representatives from AFPEBS’ 14 partner schools and institutions namely: TESDA Region XI, Christian College of Southeast Asia, Davao Doctors College, DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Ford Academy of the Arts, John Paul II College of Davao, Intercity College of Science and Technology, Philippine College of Technology, Rizal Memorial College, Tecarro College Foundation, Inc, University of Mindanao, Jose Maria College, MATS College of Technology, and University of Southeastern Philippines, some grantees and their parents, and CAPT SEVERINO VICENTE T DAVID PN, the Deputy Commander of  EastMinCom.

This event also ensures the continuity of educational benefits provided by the different partner schools to the dependents of military personnel including those who died in combat or in line of duty through the renewal of the respective Memorandum of Agreement they had with AFPEBS.  The educational benefits stipulated in the agreements include either limited or unlimited slots of free tuition or discounted tuition discounts for dependents of military personnel.

During the occasion, Ms. Frea Diane Bautista, a daughter of a soldier who died in Basilan in 2007, and a grantee of AFPEBS-Ateneo De Davao University partnership , who graduated Cum Laude for SY 2012-2013, gave a short message on how the educational benefit program helped her and her brother hereby giving them hope and improving the quality of their life. On behalf of the AFPEBS partner schools, Prof. Susan Villarente of the  University of Southeastern Philippines, thanked the AFPEBS represented by the AFPEBSO Chief/General Manager, COL MANUEL V SEQUITIN PA (GSC), and also hailed the various partnerships as  testament to the continuing commitment of the educational institutions in Davao City to contribute to the improvement  the lives of soldiers dependents through the provision of quality education.

 

Also, Mrs. Aida Rivera-Ford, the owner-president of Ford Academy of the Arts, emphasized that the event also honors the sacrifice of the AFP’s soldiers for the country.

In his speech, CAPT SEVERINO VICENTE T DAVID PN expressed his gratitude in behalf of the AFP for the continued support of the partner schools present, in providing scholarships for the   soldiers’ orphans.
