In line with its information and publicity program, the AFP Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) took part in the first ever Run for the Navy held last May 21, 2016 at Naval Station Jose Andrada in Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
A team from AFPEBSO headed by its Admin Manager, LT JOHN C LOBATON PN went to the venue and set up an information booth about the office and its educational benefit programs. The AFPEBSO booth was jibed with the Health and Wellness drive of the Philippine Navy exclusive to the runners.
Through the information booth, the AFPEBSO was able to conduct mini information drive to the runners and possible beneficiaries of the different educational benefit programs. It also became an opportunity to promote other fund-raising and scholarship generation projects of the AFPEBSO, particularly the Special Block Screening of the movie “Finding Dory” and Adopt A Scholar Project.
The Run for the Navy was the first running event organized by the Philippine Navy that benefitted the soldiers and their dependents through the Support Your Navy Foundation, Inc. (SYNFI).
The 5-KM run featured the scenic Roxas Boulevard in Manila within the stretch of Ocampo and Kalaw Streets. It was also jibed with the onsite recruitment for aspiring Sailors and Marines.
The AFPEBSO is constantly conducting information drive to military units and offices to inform our soldiers of the educational benefits that they may avail for their dependents. It plans to set up another information booth in June during the anniversary celebration of the Philippine Air Force.
At present, there are a total of 4,038 scholars/grantees being served by the AFPEBSO nationwide.
