CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) successfully conducted its Luzon Stakeholders Recognition Ceremony “Salute to 15 Years of Success” at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club, Friday (July 31).
Thirteen student achievers, 21 partner schools and three institutions were awarded by the AFP Educational Benefit System (AFPEBS) during the ceremony.
The event was made more special when former grantee Madeleine Lacambra gave her heart-felt testimonial of how AFPEBSO was able to help in her education. Now a certified public accountant, she now works at the AFPEBSO’s finance department.
Mrs. Virginia Buhawe who represented the parents of the scholars also expressed her gratitude to the AFP leadership for the assistance it gave to support her children’s education. Her husband, the late 2Lt Manuel Buhawe died during combat in 2005. On the other hand, Mr. Leonardo Riingen, President of Informatics College represented the partner schools.
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), General Hernando DCA Iriberri attended as the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the ceremony. In his speech, he encouraged the scholars to always “look back, look up, and look forward” in the hopes of inspiring them to give back to the AFP, and always be grateful of the blessing they are receiving.
Other attendees of the event were the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff and Chairman of the AFPEBS Board of Trustees (BOT), MGen Edgar R Fallorina, the AFP Joint Staff, and other members of the AFPEBS BOT.
The event recognized AFPEBSO’s scholars within Luzon, who excelled in the field of academics, sports, and leadership. This is part of AFPEBSO’s Student Achievement Recognition System wherein awardees are given certificates and cash incentives for their outstanding accomplishments.
It also honors the efforts of its partner schools, and foundations who continuously support its noble endeavor of helping military dependents achieve a brighter future through education.
The Stakeholders Recognitions Ceremony is an annual activity that acknowledges the achievements of AFPEBSO’s scholars and contributions of institutions and partner schools in support of the office’s commitment of “Leaving No Soldiers' Orphan Behind”.
