organization of grantees and alumni grantees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. KAANIB members hold special responsibilityNovember 8, 2014 marked the 6th year of Kabataang Aktibo At Nagkakaisang Iskolar ng Bayani o KAANIB, the
of helping each other in academic and career pursuits and assist the AFP Educational Benefits System (AFPEBS) in fulfilling its mission of providing responsive educational benefits and assistance programs primarily to military dependents in need.
The one-day celebration, dubbed as #YOLO (hashtag, YOLO) - “Youth Organized for Leadership and Oneness” was participated in by 114 KAANIB Members nationwide. YOLO is an acronym for "you only live once". Similar to carpediem, it implies that one should enjoy life, even if that entails taking risks. But for the KAANIBersary celebration, the theme #YOLO meant for the participants to enjoy the activities and at the same time organize them towards leadership and oneness.
During the first part of the celebration, the grantees engaged in teambuilding activities--Amazing Race and Obstacle Relays, and Tug of War, among others. In the afternoon, the grantees listened to two (2) short but enriching lectures. One was on Leadership given by an expert on training and program facilitation in Leadership Seminars, Mr. Aries Tito q Burgonio. The other lecture was on Youth Empowerment, rendered by a University of the Philippines professor, Prof. Schedar Dela Torre Jocson.
In conclusion, the grantees held the election of new KAANIB Officers. The outgoing officers were then given certificates of appreciation for their services the past year. Then the event ended with the Oath Taking of Newly Elected KAANIB Officers, officiated by the Chief/General manager of AFPEBSO LTC DANILO E ESTRAÑERO (FA) PA
